Passion, performance, and deep encouragement resonate through every note I sing and every lesson I teach. As a crossover vocalist, live performer, and voice coach with over 30 years of dedicated vocal mastery and artistic leadership, my life’s work is about connecting deeply with people through music. My journey began with classical training as an operatic soprano at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University—a wonderful foundation that taught me how to take care of my voice, expand my range, and appreciate the true mechanics of singing. A few years after graduating, I was ready to explore new sounds and continue my development as a singer. I traveled abroad to study vocal traditions and perform across Italy and England, before settling into the heart of the New York City music scene. It was during my time living in New York that I recorded my debut CD, Keeping it Simple, which was executive produced by jazz luminary Wycliffe Gordon and featured pianist Aaron Diehl and bassist Dezron Douglas. Immersed in these global creative hubs, I embraced my stylistic versatility by learning to blend the strength of my classical roots into the raw emotion of soul, the uplifting power of gospel, the groove of funk, the timeless storytelling of jazz, and collaborations in house music with multi-platinum electronic producer Stan Courtois.

 

When I returned to the Midwest, I jumped right into the live music community, holding wonderful residencies at local landmark venues and sharing my heart on stages at various regional cultural and jazz festivals. Immersed in that creative energy, I had the privilege of bringing my music to legendary New York stages—including a featured background ensemble performance at the historic Apollo Theater alongside BeBe Winans, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Gerald Levert, as well as high-profile collaborative showcases at Alice Tully Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall with Sachal Vasandani, Wycliffe Gordon, Aaron Diehl, and Laurel Massé of The Manhattan Transfer. My performance and educational footprint also spans celebrated regional institutions, including theater work across Wisconsin, appearances at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, exclusive engagements at private clubs throughout the region, partnerships with the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and the community education program of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, hosting private clinics, and appearances with the Turner Jazz Center Jazz Orchestra in Des Moines, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, and as a featured artist on PBS Wisconsin.

 

At this moment, I am in a season of deep exploration and fresh collaborations that represent the full breadth of my musical abilities as both a performer and an arts educator. I am currently writing for my upcoming album, performing educational programs, and preparing for a new project set to launch in late 2026. By intent, I choose to maintain a highly selective performance schedule. Keeping my calendar balanced allows me to protect my creative energy and focus entirely on the freedom and joy of music, whilst guiding the next generation of vocal excellence.
